We’re proud to announce that we have partnered with our friends at Glasgow Short Film Festival to offer one lucky winner the help and support to make their own short film.
Glasgow Short Film Festival promotes short film that is fresh, original and sincere in its vision. They believe short film is an “opportunity to experiment with form and narrative, unfettered by commercial constraints”
In 2017 they launched the GSFF Short Film Pitch. Each year they offer emerging filmmakers the opportunity to pitch for in kind equipment hire and a small cash bursary to experiment and realise their ideas.
The winning project in 2017, John McFarlane’s Tony and the Bull, premiered at GSFF the following year, where it won the Audience Award in the Scottish competition. The winning project in 2018, Jack Goessens’ Bouba & Kiki, has now been completed and is embarking on its festival run.
GSFF are now inviting filmmakers based in Scotland to submit one-page treatments for short film projects. Here are the details which were originally published on their website.
We’re keen to see submissions from filmmakers who have not previously received institutional funding for their projects, and we’re particularly interested in ideas which cross boundaries and experiment with form, narrative or genre.
The filmmakers behind the most exciting five treatments received will be invited to attend a day of workshops and supportive one-to-one sessions with industry professionals on Friday 15 March, before pitching their projects in an open session to a panel of filmmakers and industry experts. The panel will offer full and frank feedback. The five selected participants will also receive a full festival pass, providing free access to the whole festival programme.
One project will be selected to receive seven consecutive days’ free hire of equipment from us, plus £500 in cash courtesy of Glasgow Short Film Festival.
HOW TO ENTER
You should send a one-page treatment + a CV to shorts@glasgowfilm.org by 5pm on Friday 15 February, with the subject heading Production Attic Short Film Pitch Submission. The five selected participants will be notified by Friday 22 February.
Please note that if selected, you must be available to attend the festival for the whole day on Friday 15 March.
