Reflecting on GDC 2025: Building Connections and Expanding Horizons

As we land back home after a packed week at GDC 2025 in San Francisco, we’re feeling tired in the best way — but mostly excited. Our Disk Two team went out there to meet clients face-to-face, connect with new people, and talk about the kind of work we love doing. It was full-on, but genuinely inspiring, and we’re coming back with fresh ideas and plenty to look forward to.

Deepening Client Relationships and Forging New Connections

We didn’t just head to GDC to pitch or chase work — we went looking for partners. In a time when the industry’s shifting and nothing feels certain, what really matters is finding people who care as much as we do about making great stuff. We had honest conversations with developers, CG artists, motion designers, and game capture specialists — all passionate, creative people who want to push things forward. Those are the kind of people we want to team up with, and this week gave us a real sense that we’re on the right path.

Celebrating Our Recent Milestones

This year has been pivotal for Disk Two as we’ve ventured deeper into the gaming industry. At GDC, we had the pleasure of discussing some of our standout projects:

Sea of Thieves: Voyage of a Lifetime: Partnering with Rare, we produced a feature-length documentary that delves into the creation of this iconic game. The project was a testament to our commitment to storytelling and our ability to capture the essence of game development.

The MAV1K Documentary: In collaboration with Maverick Games, we documented an exhilarating team-building adventure inspired by Top Gear. This 10-minute film showcases the spirit of innovation and camaraderie within the gaming community.

Bootleg Steamer Game Trailer: Venturing into animation, we crafted a cinematic trailer set in the Prohibition era, bringing to life the thrilling world of bootleggers and hidden speakeasies. This project allowed us to flex our creative muscles and explore new storytelling techniques.

Looking Ahead

GDC has given us a fresh burst of energy and reminded us why we’re so excited to be moving deeper into the games industry. We’ve come home with new ideas, new connections, and a real drive to keep pushing what we can do — not just for clients, but with creative partners who want to make awesome things together.

We’ve got some exciting projects in the pipeline, and after this week, we’re more ready than ever to get stuck in. To everyone we spoke to — whether you’re someone we’ve worked with for years or someone we just met over coffee — thanks for taking the time.

Plenty more to come.
