Everything we create tells a story. We work across a wide variety of styles but whether we are producing an advert or a training video we need to ensure that everything from the shots we choose; to the production design and music; to the pace of the edit engages an audience and serves our client’s goals.
We are looking for an experienced filmmaker to join our team to help both hands on on your own projects as well as to provide advice and supervision to our production teams, technical crew and post production team. No two of our projects are alike so this will be a mix of self shooting, directing crews, briefing / reviewing work of freelance crews, editing and post production supervision.
The ideal candidate will have strong creative skills and a portfolio of work which demonstrates their passion for storytelling through film. This candidate will have experiences in working with numerous different production styles across all departments from scriptwriting, direction, camera operation and post production.
Hours / Contract type
Ideally we are looking for a full time, permanent team member but we are open to discuss more flexible working. Competetive salary depending on experience.
About us
Production Attic are a production company working with clients across the UK and globally. We work across a range of production styles including live action and animation as well as deliver to a number of formats including TV, cinema and web. We are based in Glasgow, have been operating since 2011 and focus on ensuring our clients have a great customer journey and receive high quality work.
Location
Glasgow based / Working From Home.
- Pre / Post production days – We are all working from home and are planning to continue WFH for the foreseeable future so days of preproduction / post production you would be based remotely with support provided via regular video calls.
- Production – For filming days we work all across the UK based from our Glasgow office in Speirs Wharf.
Any required software and hardware will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Being the creative lead on your own projects:
- Scriptwriting and shoot planning
- Communicating regularly with clients and production teams
- Self shooting / directing crews
- Editing / directing editors
Supervising other projects:
- Creation of filming guidelines
- Reviewing and providing feedback on rushes / draft edits and animation
Key Skills
You must have:
- A strong understanding of film language – what shots / sequences cut well; why particular shots have a certain effect
- Ability to self shoot and be confident operating cameras, lighting and sound recording equipment
- Ability to work as part of a team, to motivate others and provide constructive feedback
- Experience of video editing software
- Copywriting / script writing experience
- Good communication skills and confidence to flag issues with clients and production teams
Experience & Knowledge
